Peer Support that Fosters Recovery

This webinar will provide an overview of the elements for the practice of peer support and outline the skills and knowledge to be included in training programs based on the Guidelines for the Practice and Training of Peer Support. The guidelines are for prospective and practicing peer supporters as a roadmap for personal development, and for administrators as they develop or enhance peer support programs within their organizations. 

Session Objectives:

1) Provide an overview of the Guidelines for the Practice and Training of Peer Support. (MHCC)
2) Review evidence regarding peer involvement in service delivery 
3) Identify core knowledge, skills and beliefs required for peer work 
4) Describe 2 ways in which the guidelines can be useful to practice a) for peers and b) for administrators

Debbie Sesula, MA, RTC, CPS, is a Peer Support Accreditation and Certification Canada (PSACC) Certified Peer Supporter. Her 20+ years of involvement in peer support ranges from peer support worker, researcher, developer and coordinator of programs, curriculum developer and trainer, and chair of the PSACC Certification Committee.
